Summary

Celaena is released from a prison camp by an arrogant Prince to represent him for a tournament. Barely alive she is thrown into a fierce competition to be the Kings Champion for four years then her name is cleared. Once a notorious assassin she must prove that she can still take down the cream of the crop for her freedom.

During the competition a murderer begins to target them and they are slowly picked off as time goes on. Can they solve it before she fall victim? Investigating on her own Celaena discovers a new magic with new threats. Buy it- <3 

Review

I really loved this book. I do have a problem however with the perspective change because there isn’t a certain pattern to the perspective being shown. I also do not like random characters narrating when they are not a main character.

The vainness of the author also astounds me. The author used herself on the front cover of the book! I know I am a narcissist, but man! That makes me feel humble.

I really enjoyed the characters and I read it in two days. If you like Michael J. Sullivan or Brent Weeks you will like this one as well. Add it to your library or you can add it to mine! ;D

*Violence: This book does focus on abuse. There are details of beatings and what I consider a form of torture.
*Sexual Content: He is attracted to a girl so he does explain why he thinks she is attractive
*Language: The older brother and father say some swear words when they are upset.

Summary

Jace showed up at his brothers apartment with $3.84 in his pocket and a mashed up face. They haven't seen each other in many years but the scars their father left on them has molded them differently. Jace struggles to put the bad and abusive habits behind while his brother fears his girlfriend will find out where he really came from. Can they live together and keep hidden the secrets they so earnestly try to lie away?

Review

This book is close to my heart. I also respect Swati Avasthi for skillfully writing from a males perspective. It was well written and you can clearly imagine being Jace in his crazy world. I love the ending because I feel like it fits with the reality of what it's like in an abusive house and the lasting affects. I will definitely add this to my library and open up this book when you feel like you need to heal. The beginning may be rough and little raw on the heart but it will give a healthy closure. Purchase "Split".

*Drug Abuse: It's more alcohol than drugs that most of the kids in the story are doing.

*Language: There are some swear words in dialogue and personal ranting.

*Sexual Content: Tyler does explain why he thinks the Queen Bee is hot.                Bethany is also a victim of some sexual abuse.

Summary

Tyler was not rich, sporty, a druggie, gear head, or hick. He was a middle class nobody and was tired of it. So he graffitied the school he attended and as a result spent time doing community service. His body transformed in that time period that is clearly appreciated by other people but especially his crush Bethany the Queen Bee of high school. With senior year beginning she narrows on him but her brother Chip has it out for him and creates hurdles you aren't sure Tyler will be able to get out of.

Review

I've been reading more from a male perspective and I find it absolutely amusing. Tyler is hilarious, descriptive, and not the average doofus in high school. I also couldn't put this book down and would think about it throughout my day. This one is painful on the wincing side not the heart break teary side as much. I think the author did a good job at portraying how Tyler thinks and acts even though she is a girl herself. I would love to have this book. I rate it a 4/5.

"Suicide Notes from Beautiful Girls" - Lynn Weingarten

Language 2/5: They are common when the characters are upset but not every other word.

Nudity/Sex 3/5: There is the mention of sex and some details between Delia and others but luckily no steamy scenes. A vital scene is the possible rape situation of a character. It is short and to the point.

Drug Abuse 3/5: They do use drugs but it's to explain the high's and lows of their behavior. Alcohol is present as well at parties and things.

Violence 2/5: Characters do die and inflict pain on others. They also smash a tail light of a car.

Summary

Friends come and go in life but what do you do when you find out your best friend from a year ago died? Not only did they die but they died from their worst fear? They call it suicide but clues and the help of others lead to a road you are not prepared for.

Delia was a bonfire that warmed everyone and June loved her best friend. But as usual there was something that happened and they grew apart. Jeremiah who is Delia's boyfriend at the time ask's for June's help to uncover the murderer. While uncovering evidence of a murder she finds herself at a drug lords house, in the woods, digging through trash, and questioning everyone around her.

Review

I loved it. I was at the store and it was a really rough day. I normally don't go for the New York Times Best Sellers list books but it piqued my interest. Plus it was only $6. So I thought why not. What I didn't know is that I would spend my entire Saturday from morning until evening reading it. Every page is packed with twists and turns. You can guess some but the real twist is too good to share.

I personally loved Delia and felt like her and I were cut from the same cloth. But the ending scared me the most because I sided with her. I wouldn't let pre-teens read it. If you want something that is thrilling and good quality definitely check it out. It is meant for mature audiences.
